Lafayette Community Park

The 68-acre site of Lafayette Community Park contains a diverse array of topography, wildlife and recreation opportunities.   The south-end has two sports fields that are used for baseball in the Spring and soccer in the Fall.  There is a group picnic area that can be reserved and several single picnic tables.  A Tot Playground with an adjoining lawn is near the picnic area and fields.  A footbridge leads people from the parking lot, located at 480 Saint Mary’s Road, to the fields, picnic area and public restrooms. A natural trail meanders through the entire park.

Las Trampas Creek runs along the western edge of the park and Grizzly Creek runs along the northern edge.  Zones of dense riparian vegetation accompany the creeks.  Flatlands along Las Trampas Creek were originally floodplains, and prior to the 1960’s were used for growing walnuts and pears. The rolling lands form the highest ground and comprise the majority of the overall site.  They support a variety of vegetative communities, including a well-developed oak woodland, open grassland and two eucalyptus groves. Street address: 480 St. Mary's Road.

Lafayette Bike Park

Lafayette Bike Park is proposed to be located in the south end of Lafayette Community Park adjacent to the sports fields. Built on a hill, the progression based bike park will be packed with beginner, intermediate, advanced and expert level table top jumps, berms, and rollers that are gravity fed. Riders will pedal/push to the top and drop in on a selection of fat berms, flowy rollers, and a variety of jumps including hips, kickers, step ups, step downs and more built for both BMX and mountain bike riders to rip it up. A water fountain, bathrooms, trash and recycling are located nearby providing riders with all of the necessary facilities for a great day of riding. Easy access from the Lafayette-Moraga Regional Trail, a paved bike path that parallels St. Mary’s Road from Lafayette to Moraga will allow local riders to safely ride right to the park. A bus stop for Lafayette Community Park is located at 480 St. Marys Road and is served by County Connection Line 206 (equipped with bike racks) which leaves from the Lafayette BART Station. Street address: 480 St. Mary's Road.
